Rhiannon Ally: The temperatures are starting to climb and the air getting so humid outside. So when it comes to our beauty routine were always looking for ways to beat the heat. Dermatologist Dr. Jeanine Downie is here to show us how to keep cool all summer long. And just in time because it is getting hot out there.Dr. Jeanine Downie: It's crazy. It's getting very, very hot. So first thing is first, when you think of summer, you think of sweating it's the first day of summer we need to think about deodorant, right.Rhiannon Ally: And there's so many out there how we know which one is the best.Dr. Jeanine Downie: There are tons. So a lot of people want natural so Toms of Maine is my favorite natural, the Dove and the Secret are great. You know just in terms of antiperspirant, anti-sweat, you know people love that.Rhiannon Ally: So should you look for deodorant thats specifically has antiperspirant.Dr. Jeanine Downie: Yes.Rhiannon Ally: I thought all of them have.Dr. Jeanine Downie: No, all of them dont, yes. So definitely and then during the hot summer months also we tend to shine in the middle of the day. So between the sunscreen that were supposed to have on and then we put makeup on, so I like the Clean and Clear blot pad, I also like the Biore blot pads. And what they do is they suck away some of the oil and then you reapply sunblock and reapply makeup over that and I think you have a question for me.Rhiannon Ally: I do have a question for you. A beauty expert told me a little trick she uses is in a pinch, just in a pinch you can use a toilet seat cover as a blotter. What do you think about this? You're the dermatologist, you're the expert.Dr. Jeanine Downie: Okay, to be honest with you. If you think about, like just like what's flying around that restroom. I wouldnt, at all.Rhiannon Ally: Would you be better of this in like paper towel.Dr. Jeanine Downie: A paper towel from when you wipe your hands afterwards would be fine. I just, I wouldnt just because of bacteria and stuff thats flying around that public restroom stall. I just dont want to think about that.Rhiannon Ally: Okay, good tip. So what about those sprays we see those but it's always like it's going to take my makeup off.Dr. Jeanine Downie: Well the Avène sprays are great and so are the Evian sprays and they're just kind of atomizer. So broad brim tads in those sprays are absolutely terrific.Rhiannon Ally: And they won't take your makeup off.Dr. Jeanine Downie: And they won't take your makeup off and they do refresh your face. And then because were sweating so heavily another thing I wanted to point out is a lot of people do Botox for hyperhydrosis during the summer months. Hyperhydrosis is just something that wets too much. I have people that sweat all the way dont to their panty and some that sweat down to the end of their dress. So they're just really like engulf in sweat. They have to wear black. They change their clothes like four times a day. So there a starch iodine test that we do and Botox is great and it last the first time for around three months and then after that it usually last about six months.Rhiannon Ally: So it's not for everyone then.Dr. Jeanine Downie: No.Rhiannon Ally: If you just sweat a little bit it probably won't be good for you.Dr. Jeanine Downie: No, it's not for everyone. It's for people that have a problem in that area. And then wear wicking fabrics while you exercise. People think it's too hot to exercise. It's not wearing wicking fabrics. That means that you're wearing fabrics that are specially formulated to take the sweat kind of like into the fabric and away from your body. Thats also important.Rhiannon Ally: Very important when you're working out they're good.Dr. Jeanine Downie: Absolutely.Rhiannon Ally: As you mention the sunscreen as well.Dr. Jeanine Downie: Yeah, everyday.Rhiannon Ally: Thank you so much.
